Russia says commercial low-orbit Internet to appear in 2027
MOSCOW, Jul 7 (PRIME) -- Russian company Bureau 1440, part of X-Holding, has launched three national low-orbiting satellites to create a commercial service of satellite broadband Internet access on low-earth-orbits that will start working in 2027, the Digital Development Ministry said on Friday.
The satellites were successfully launched from Vostochny Cosmodrome in the country’s Far East.
Now the data transfer speed amounts to 12 Mbit/s with a lag of 41 milliseconds.
“The next stage is serial and mass production of national apparatuses and acceleration of data transfer to more than 100 Mbit/s,” the ministry said.
The authority added that 10 to 12 rockets, each carrying 15 satellites, will be put on the orbit per year from 2025.
